| | Sigma Alpha Epsilon is a national fraternity founded on March 9, 1856, at the University of Alabama. The fraternity is based on the values of friendship, scholarship and service which are the guiding principles of “The True Gentleman,” which is the creed of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. The South Carolina Nu chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was originally the Numeral Society which was Clemson’s first fraternity. The Numeral Society’s original purpose was to build the float that took the homecoming queen out onto the field during game day. This tradition is still practiced by Sigma Alpha Epsilon today. SAE is an active fraternity on campus from being involved in philanthropy and community service to frequent mixers and socials with other fraternities and sororities. Sigma Alpha Epsilon has grown nationally to become one of the largest social fraternities in North America, with 225 chapters and more than 280,000 members. | |
